Allow me to introduce myself

Hello! My name is Mary Grace, I’m a project manager and space enthusiast who loves to problem solve. I’m known to tackle challenges head on and to conquer the seemingly impossible with enthusiasm and determination.

I recently graduated with a BSc in Physics & Computer Science from McGill University and I am currently pursuing a secondary degree in Aerospace Engineering.

I seek to unite my passions for project management and science through space-based projects with student organizations and beyond.

Orientation Development Specialist - McGill University

McGill University’s Orientation Week welcomes over 7000 incoming students through a weeklong series of events. As the Development Specialist I directed a team of 80 student leaders through the programming and execution of their Orientation events. I also trained over 1000 student leaders on topics of consent, bystander intervention, effective communication, and more.

I also constructed a registration process for 7000 users integrating logic based subsystems, payment tracking, and multi-stage cross referencing.

Director of Programming - Science Undergraduate Society

The Science Undergraduate Society of McGill organizes an Orientation Week event called Frosh for newly admitted students. Frosh connects over 1300 new and returning students through various programming.

As the Director of Programming for Frosh 2017, I organized and maintained an operating budget of over $250,000, managed an executive team of 12, and oversaw the logistical planning of 48+ hours of programming. I also established a new equitable hiring procedure used to interview over 400 student volunteers. The use of this system resulted in an approval rating of 93% from event participants. This was an overall increase of 14% compared to any previous year.

President - McGill Society of Physics Students

The McGill Society of Physics Students serves undergraduate students in the department of physics. As the President I lead an executive team to host award-winning social and academic events such as “How to get into Grad School”. During my term our executive team succeeded in renovating two student spaces and rewrote the societal constitution to incorporate 3 new executive positions.

Research Assistant - McGill University

As an undergraduate member of Professor Nikolas Provatas’ research group I was introduced to topics of condensed matter physics and materials science. Through the use of high performance computing, we modelled alloy crystallization and the effect of latent heat release and capillary anisotropy on dendrite formation.
